“My daughter and I did this self-drive husky dog sledding experience about 35 minutes from Tromsø, in the hills of the neighbouring island. Despite windy and snowy conditions, the activity was very well organised and great fun. We started sledding at 14:00, which meant sledding in the dark using headlamps. While this was still enjoyable, I would recommend going during the twilight hours (around 09:30–14:30) and hoping for clear weather to better appreciate the beautiful surrounding landscape. “This was an amazing experience from start to finish. We saw the Northern Lights immediately, which was an absolute bonus. Then they took us in to pet ALL the dogs. The handlers are all so knowledgeable and taught you all about them. Next we had a lovely dinner (vegetarian option was so good). Finally we went out by a campfire to admire the lights and the guides gave a talk about them as well. Obviously, the northern lights aren’t a guarantee, but this would have been worth it without them.”
